    • 10 Fundamental Principles of Build a Second Brain
      1. Borrowed Creativity
        • Creativity is about Remixing Ideas in interesting ways. Taking ideas from different places and adding a personal spin
        • "Good artists copy, great artists steal." - Pablo Picasso Quote
        • Steal like an artist
      2. Capture Habbit
        • Brains are for creating ideas not for storing them
        • As you come across new ideas or interesting things it's important to capture them in a system so they won't be forgotten
      3. Idea Recycling
        • Ideas are not single use and can be reused over time
        • Keep track of all the ideas used part of a project because they can be remixed and reused for another project
      4. Projects Over Categories
        • Capture idea and associate it to a project so the information becomes directly useful
      5. Slow burn vs heavy lifts
        • projects are worked on slowly and progressively instead of doing 1 project start to finish with all attention (a blank page, a blank canvas)
        • The slow burn allows you to have multiple projects going and as you come across information worth capturing you know there is a project you can associate that idea to
      6. Start with Abundance
        • You never start a deliverable with a blank page.
        • Because of your capture habit you can start with ideas, quotes, sources that you stitch together instead of a the heavy lift
      7. Intermediate Packets
        • spit deliverables into distinct blocks or packets that can be combined
        • Intermediate packets can be reused in other projects
        • Putting together a new deliverable is merely combining intermediate packets in a new way
        • It's easier to work on intermediate packets than to get started on the whole thing
      8. You only know what you make
        • Reading, watching, and listening doesn't directly transfer to knowledge.
        • You have to create, restate and put out that knowledge in your own words to really understand it
        • Reading a book and writing a summary, listening to a podcast and doing a tweet storm, or having an idea and fleshing it out into an intermediate packet
      9. Make it easier for your future self
        • putting in the work now to make your future self's life easier
        • future brain is a dumbass and will forget about what things mean
      10. Keep your ideas moving
        • Anti perfectionist, the most important thing is the output. It doesn't really matter what is in your second brain.
        • If you aren't using and applying what you learn then the information is useless
        • There is no perfect note system and there is no perfect app. Just improve over time.
